Frequently Asked Questions
You don't have to know everything in advance. In the FAQs, we answer the most common questions – so you can quickly get clarity on the process, organization, and financing.
What information helps you process my request quickly and appropriately?
Most helpful are: district in Berlin, rough frequency (e.g., 1x/week), desired support (household, companionship, organization), care level yes/no (if applicable: which one), and whether relatives should be involved. If there are sensitive aspects (e.g., HIV, experiences of discrimination, safety needs), you can briefly state them – without details. We will only ask follow-up questions if it is necessary for planning and tailored support. The clearer the basic information, the faster we can state availability and sensible next steps.
How quickly do you respond - and through which contact channels is it most reliable?
If you want quick feedback, phone or form are often the most efficient, as we can then clarify questions directly. Email is well suited if you prefer to communicate in writing or want to bundle information. Important: Please include your preferred callback time so that you are not missed multiple times. If you do not want phone calls, please say so – then we will stick to written clarification. This creates a process that suits your communication needs.
How do you handle confidentiality when it comes to queer life realities or health topics?
We treat information from contact and help requests confidentially and only use it to process your request and organize support. You decide what you want to share. If you want to involve relatives, we will clarify beforehand what information may be passed on – and to whom. This is particularly relevant if you are coordinating, for example, chosen family, ex-partners, neighbors or services. The goal is for you to feel safe and to maintain control over who knows what.
Can I get a brief orientation meeting without immediately booking a fixed assignment?
Me: You can first clarify whether the offer suits your situation. A brief discussion about needs, framework conditions and financing options makes sense. After that, you can decide whether a getting to know each other or a trial appointment is the next step. Especially if you are cautious after bad experiences with help systems, this "small entry" is important: you get clarity without committing to anything.
We offer queer‒sensitive everyday support for all Berliners with a special focus on the LSBTIQ+ community and their supportive individuals.
